Halogen lamps are actually an advanced variant of incandescent technology. One of the main causes that shorten the life of the light bulbs is the evaporation of tungsten inside the light bulb. By adding a small amount of halogen gas (methyl bromide) inside the light bulb, tungsten is removed from the glass cover by a chemical reaction and stored again in the light wire. This extends the life of the light bulb. The higher temperatures for halogen lighting contribute to a whiter light, higher light exchange and greater efficiency.
